What's inside
- A competency matrix scored against a role benchmark. Set the level each competency requires, then rate every leader against that bar rather than against each other.
- Your whole leadership population in one view. Add every job role and every competency you care about, so you can compare and contrast across levels instead of assessing each team in isolation.
- Automatic results. The sheet calculates role fitness, gaps, average against benchmark, and share verified as you type, then sets each person's status for you.
- A gap analysis that names the risk. A second tab rolls the matrix up into bench strength, status spread, and the competencies where you have no cover, a single point of failure, or thin coverage.
How to use it
- Set your competencies and the benchmark. Replace the samples with the competencies your organisation expects of leaders, then set the level each one requires, 0 to 3, in the yellow benchmark row.
- Add your people and their job roles. Bring in every role from emerging leader upward, so the matrix shows you where capability sits across the whole bench.
- Rate each person 0 to 3, and mark V or I. V means verified from real work or assessment. I means inferred from a title or a hunch.
- Read role fitness, then act on the gap analysis. Status is set for you. Spend development budget on SINGLE POINT and THIN competencies first, and on the people marked Needs IDP.
